Case 39

Review by Rudy Facio-
2 1/2 Stars (out of 5)

The story of a demonic little girl, laying ruin to the lives of everyone
around her, and a social worker who brings her into her home.

Technically-

The Director knows where to put the camera, but direction is not highly

stylized. Cinematography Not visually striking. The pacing however is

good for a wanna-be psych thriller. The little CGI used wasn’t appealing

to me,
and took me right out of the movie. Renee Zellweger played the role
kind of like a fish. Swimming around here and there, but not knowing
where she’s really going. The movie does seem to inspire a hint of
fear the iconic “Twilight Zone” episode harbors, but falls extremely
short. Jodelle Ferland (the little girl) shows potential.

Breaking it down-

At first viewing, i have to admit i was wow’d. The thought of this
happening to me had me scarred, and clinging to every scene. Looking
back on it though, it wasn’t that good. Every genre cliche was bashed in.
I didn’t really care about the characters, and the ending was among
the worst. It was like, “ok time to end the movie now, END”. It was like
being on a roller coaster and before you take that last big drop, the
cart just slows down, and gently coasts to the end. Except the roller
coaster is more like an escalator in a mall.

What im trying to say is-

Good for a first date movie, or watching with your girlfriend on
a lazy Sunday. Can we move on now? blah.
